“The Zen Petals Collection grew naturally out of my earlier work, which focused on botanicals in their familiar, realistic environments. Yet the more I painted these floral forms, the more I felt compelled to abstract their message. The ‘flowers’ gradually became less literal—shapes and impressions rather than identifiable blooms—set against backgrounds that were equally abstract.”
